Pray always
Desperate times require desperate measures. That is what the old adage is. But prayer shouldn’t be reserved for just desperate times.
What is prayer? I think it is talking to God. Having an honest conversation, respectfully presenting what is on your mind. He already knows anyway. He desires the one-on-one communication with you.
The Lord’s Prayer, as it is called, in Matthew 6 9-13 is a guide. Some preachers say do not simply repeat it, but sometimes when you don’t know what to pray, just saying the words of this scripture helps get you started. Always respectful of God and how Holy He is, begin with “Holy Heavenly Father.” The Bible has many passages about prayer including beautiful Psalms.
But lately, I was in a dire situation, needing more than just a conversation with God. Although, I had prayed and presented my request to God, knowing that He would answer in His time and in His own way; I also sent prayer requests to other vehicles (i.e. radio stations dedicated to Christian music that specifically advertise a prayer connection) and prayer request card at my church. But I didn’t stop with that one prayer, I continued to pray time after time over a period of weeks.
And not in the nick of time, but in God’s time, He heard me and answered my prayer. Psalm 66:19-20 paraphrased, He heard me and attended to the voice of my prayer.
Praise the Lord.
So don’t be discouraged, God hears you and He will answer in His time and His way….just in nick of time.
